Barton Not Sounding Right For You?

Your child may not need the intense phonic and phoenemic awareness associated with the Barton system.

Is your child is a fair reader, but sometimes doesn’t really understand what they have read?

Do they struggle to recall facts and/or answer comprehension questions?

Are they are a strong literal reader, but struggle with work that requires reading between the lines?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are you a tutor or a teacher?

The answer is both. I have my Bachelor of Education degree and I am a certified teacher. In addition to classroom experience, I have also spent the bulk of my career tutoring in small groups and privately.

Do you have experience with students with diagnosed learning disabilities?

Yes. I have worked with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, ADHD, auditory processing disorder and language processing disorder.

Where are classes held?

Classes are held at 40 Sage Creek Blvd. in the private study room.

What is the cost?

Sessions are $40 hourly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept both cash and e-transfer. You may pay per session, prepay bi-weekly or prepay monthly.

How many hours can I book?

You may book a one or two hour session. You make book as many sessions weekly as needed or preferred, space depending.

Can I book the same day and time each week?

Yes. Consistency is encouraged. You may request a permanent, recurring session.

What if I have a crazy schedule and can't come the same day every week?

No problem. You may book as a “float”, space depending, but I’ll do my best to fit you in.

How will I know how my child is doing?

You may book a 15 minute monthly progress meeting to discuss areas of strength and weakness.

Will my child get homework?

Homework is available upon request at an extra charge of $10 monthly.

Can my child bring their homework from school?

Yes. If your child needs homework help, they may bring that to their session.

Can I get a reminder for my child's class?

Yes. If you’re not on a recurring schedule, I can send you a text reminder the day before, upon request.

Do you have a current child abuse registry and criminal record check?

Yes. I am not now, nor have I ever been on either list. I simply get these checks for parent’s peace of mind.
